Ushuaia, Argentina - Tierra del Fuego -

Ushuaia, Argentina is the most southerly city in the Southern Hemisphere and has an estimated population, including the surrounding area, of 150,000. Ushuaia is the capital of the Tiera del Fuego Province and is a popular destination for adventure tourism. The city sits in an expansive bay, in the Beagle Channel, and is surrounded by snow capped mountain peaks.
Ushuaia is also the port of origin for numerous scientific expeditions to Antarctica, which is only 1,000 km to the south.
The weather in this area is also so very changeable - the sun may be shining and be pleasantly warm, it may rain soon after, it might also sleet, or snow, the air is rarely calm and the area is regularly lashed by roaring gales. In the peak summer months of December and January, there is 16 to 18 hours of daylight, but during the winter, there may be as little as 6 hours of daylight.

Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago at the southernmost tip of South America, which extends down to the literal end of the world - Fin del Mundo - at Cape Horn. The discovery of this area is attributed to Ferdinand Magellan’s voyage in 1530, but was not settled by Europeans until the second half of the 19th century at the height of the sheep farming booms, and the gold rushes in California and other areas of the western part of North America.
